It's official, I am having my very first buzz on and I made it back for the PC 10pm curfew. The fact that I had a case of "mi belli de run" after school made a huge difference on my alcohol consumption tolerance.
My first full week in Bo is complete, we decided to meet and watch a soccer game at Obamas and then head over to Vicanis for more drinks and dancing. I am marking this as my first official unchaperoned night out in Sierra Leone.
I go and pick up my next door neighbor-slash-"cousin", "Joe Fortune". The SLs don't believe in opposite sex platonic friendships so they are convinced that we are sleeping together and insist that we walk to and from school together everyday.
Not really much to share aside from noting that I had my first taste of freedom from my host family as I slowly try to remove myself from their religious affiliation. That and also noting how awesome the REI Bug Hut 2 is b/c I can lay here in my birthday suit and hear mosquitos buzzing by my head knowing that they can't bite me b/c I'm hiding in my safe little bug hut cave. Thank you REI from preventing malaria and the barrage of scratchy bites which can result into boils on my legs........tenki tenki ya!
