06/11/12-Dos Equis.....

We had a special guest speaker today, he looked like "The Most Interesting Man In The World". And truthfully, he WAS an interesting guy! I really wanted to ask if he drank Dos Equis, lol. I really enjoyed hearing his old timey stories of the good ole PC days of acid, latrines, night time, and king cobras, lol. He intimately knew so much details about the tribes and their origins. I was intrigued by his stories and his devotion to the development of this country. I'd just love to spend an afternoon with him over coffee and cigarettes and just listen.....yes he IS that interesting.

The language learning really helps when you are completely surrounded by Sierra Leoneans who are nice enough to help us practice. Immersion is the way to go, I am convinced of that now.

I just recently discovered that there is a youth organized computer resource center on the 2nd floor of our hostel. So awesome to see the youth taking matters into their own hands and empowering each other. I made friends with 3 guys that work there. We bonded over our love for music and hip hop.

I can definitely see the benefits of "I tok de Krio smol smol" and how it opens up communication and bonding with the locals, in comparison to when we first got here. I can at least say "Tenki ya" to the dining hall ladies to let them know that I appreciate them keeping us well fed.
